Globalisation: Academic writing
exercise-CIPD level-7 excersise
Purpose:
This exercise gives you the opportunity to develop and then demonstrate your ability to:
1. Demonstrate your understanding of the question.
2. Research the topic using various appropriate academic sources.
3. Demonstrate that you can analyse and evaluate (rather than simply describe).
4. Write clearly, in a logical and coherent way.
5. Reference the sources you have used.
The task:
Answer both of the following two questions:
a. Critically evaluate the impact of globalisation on contemporary work over the past twenty
years. Justify your answer with support from your reading and experience.
b. Evaluate the extent to which the effects of globalisation on working lives have been positive
or negative. Illustrate
your answer with examples and support from your reading.
Guidance:
• You will need to research (i.e. read widely) to support your answer.
• Draw upon your own experience to support key arguments.
• Word limit: 500 words per answer (1000 word total), excluding reference list.
• You can structure your answers either in an essay style or report style (i.e. with headings).
• As you only have 500 words per answer, introductions and conclusions should be kept brief.
Important Guidance:
Very important to follow the writing guidance of CIPD (avoid what needs to be avoided in writing-kindly refer to
attachements)
VERY IMPORTANT TO BE AN ESSAY WITH CRITICAL WRITING NOT ONLY DESCRIPTION

Important to arrange writing from Description to Analysis to Evaluation.
The essay structure should be generally (Introduction, body with critical anallysis and real organization example,
Conclusion-that has no new ideas and summarizes the main points in the body, and recommendation with logical and
explaining the good impacts of that recommendation)
Finally each question point should have its different Referrences, i.e. (quastion point (a) after finishing the essay with
500 words, put the references (6-7 references) for this question. Then start a new page in writing the 2nd question (b), 500 words-not including references- put the references of this question in after too like the first question.
