Assessment Questions/Description:
Question 1: The forensic mental health unit where you work as forensic psychologist will undergo an announced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. As part of the inspection you – as a forensic psychologist – are required to produce a report on risk assessment of violence. The report should critically describe and evaluate the HCR20-v3 (risk assessment in use) focusing on the empirical evidence of its effectiveness and its limitations. Your concluding remarks should consider some future recommendations regarding its use in forensic mental health settings.
Question 2: The psychological services group of the forensic mental health unit where you work as forensic psychologist is undergoing a review of the various approaches to offender rehabilitation. As part of that, you – as a forensic psychologist – have been asked to produce a report that provides a critical account of TWO well-known models of offender rehabilitation, the Risk Need Responsivity (RNR) and the Good Life Models. Your concluding remarks should consider some future recommendations with regard to which approach you would recommend for the use in forensic mental health settings.
