According to Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary:
Power is defined as the “ability to act or produce an effect.”
Influence is defined as “the act or power of producing an effect without apparent exertion of force or direct exercise of command.”
Using this week’s readings to support your response, write a paper that addresses the following:
What are the different power sources as described by French and Raven (1968)?
Which sources of power may be used by a leader to create commitment with followers? Which sources may result in only compliance? 
Provide examples from your personal/professional experiences to highlight this distinction.
In Wren (1995), several influence tactics are presented that apply to both leaders and followers. Discuss how followers can influence leaders. Which influence tactics might they use (e.g, consultation, ingratiation, etc.)? Focus on influence tactics rather than power sources.
When responding, be sure to consider how important topics such as motivation, employee engagement, empowerment and productivity relate to this assignment.
