One of the class participation assignments is a group presentation in lab sections on bioethics issues
related to genetics. Students will initiate discussions which involve personal values, rights, and
responsibilities relating to applications in genetics. Students must learn to deal with a variety of
options and to think critically about which one leads to the greatest good. Exploring compelling
dilemmas in an authentic situation provides powerful motivation to understand the science that
underlies the dilemma. Many different information sources can be used such as interviews,
literature and internet research, and even hands-on experiments. Students must gather information, analyze and classify complex viewpoints, develop realistic alternatives, and then express their
findings in a cogent, organized fashion. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers in regards to
grading these reports, only opinions held by individuals- the quality of the presentations (including
fair and balanced reporting of controversial issues) is the main criteria for grading.
The topic is Bioethics of gene therapy and lab mutation. You will focus on the law stance pros and cons and make it on powerpoint. At least 6 slides must be on. Use credible sources. Thank you.
